Most of the times I get EVOs, Zs and the occasional M3's doing that. And most of the time they have a lady friend in the car so I'm guessing they are just trying to score points. Its sad the way they think that what they are doing is impressive. I don't bother, I just look over and smirk and they can all bent out of shape about it and start revving like crazy or trying to cut me off. The dont pay attention to the traffic up ahead, so I make the most of it and leave them behind without even flooring it.

My policy is that one should not race on public roadways, but sometimes you have to engage. One of my fondest Porsche moments was a couple years ago when I had a Ferrari 360 closing on my tail. He was barrelling down on me after a long straight leading into some corners. It was a little slick with rain so I simply carried a constant legal speed through the curves using the full friction circle of the tires and the incredible Carrera 4 grip. Perhaps it was not totally fair, but I watched as he understeered entering the corner and onto the shoulder. I think he got dressed down by his passenger because he slowed down a lot after that.

Same here

It's a real pain to go out to enjoy you car and have some jerk wanting to race. I thought I was the only one with this issue. I pretty much decided to make my P-car a DE only car. I've had a mini van with a family of 4 on my *** at 95, a GEO Metro pass me at 85 and plenty of 4x4 trucks, & z's wanting to race. What most don't understand at 85 you can double your speed. It not worth it to mess around on the street, we have all seen what stupid can do; so I just slow down and move over. It's funny no one wants to race my KIA Sorenta?

Ive been putting up with this stuff for years in my Vettes. The problem is as bad, if not worse with my C2. I chalk it up to the inferior ride complex.

yeah it happens all the time...but there is a cure.....bait then to chase u into a set of really twisty bits....on the first couple of turns go in hard and do all ur braking b4 the turn...they'll be able to back off in time but still want to hang with u...on the next turn dont go in as hard but trail brake as late as u can....they won't have ur brake lites to warn them and miss the apex and either spin or understeer off the side. This works really well against Trucks, SUV and Mini Vans and all front well drive cars.

I had a Mustang with temprorary tags challenge me yesterday. 25 year old is revving, speeding up and down, trying to get me to bite. All the while he's got his phone against his ear and is slouching against the door gansta style. What a joke. But to me the most common cars to go after me are G35's and 350Z's. I don't know what is in those owners' blood, but they feel the need to prove something.

Having recently purchased my 02 996, I have had a few experiences with WRX's and EVO's.....I don't mind the boy racers, it's the pick-up trucks and SUV's that drive me nuts....Are they for real???

lol , i was going to post a thread like this

I have one of approx 5 993 or newer 911's in the central & North section of the Island here.. (bout 400K people... ) so needless to say i get a lot of this BS.

no matter how short the drive, i always have someone trying to race... every now and then it is always fun to take up one of these offers just to tease a civic or a sunfire or something ... my favorite is to just barely keep ahead... then, just as they turn to their passenger to say "omg we are keeping up, that 43" wide muffler tip must have made a difference!!!!" .. roll onto the throttle and leave them sitting there reving the **** out of thier car, getting nowhere... hopes and dreams crushed... lol

even when the gf was driving the other day, (very rare!) we had a new Ford F350 Super Duty wanting to race off the lights.... she had him no problem, not a hope in hell... she was very proud of herself ... lol

Ahhhh yes, but here in sunny south Florida, we get the guys that challenge you in traffic. I live in south Miami and work in north Broward, so when I do decide to drive to work, I constantly get challenged while sitting in traffic on the turnpike! I once even rolled down my window to ask a guy (in of all things a honda prelude) what he expected to accomplish by his constant revving (to which he replied something completely undecipherable).
