Which mod option?
Which mod option?
Thinking about first mods on potential 3.6L purchase (plenum and suspension already done)...
Option 1:
High flow exhaust system made from high grade 304 stainless steel includes:
Matched manifolds High flow cats, High flow rear boxes & Tail pipes Power gain +20-30bhp.
Option 2:
"GIAC ECU Software upgrade and EVOMS V-Flow filter with the addition of a Milltek cat back exhaust system. Aprox +25bhp
The exhaust upgrade adds a vastly improved exhaust note with a relatively small increase in cabin noise levels. Milltek systems are constructed from 304 stainless steel and madrell bent for optimised flow, providing a noticable increase in power and torque."
Option 3:
EVOMS Stainless Steel Sport Exhaust
Complies with factory Porsche warranty
Complies with UK MOT emissions
Saves 28lbs from the rear of your 996 and Increases 6-8 HP
Incredible Sports Sound without RESONANCE!
Option 4:
PSE, no power gain just OEM rich sound
Options 2, 3 & 4 are all about the same price, option 1 is $500 more. Any ideas/ thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

After reading this forum I must agree that we seem to spend a lot of money for 25 to 30 HP gains. I think if anything I will spend money on lowering (springs) and perhaps other external estethic feathures. Heck just take that money and keep it running as good as it should given the cost of service intervals.
I figure more HP means more chances to get my first ticket! LOL!

I have done exhaust, intake, header for engine mod so far...the gains are minimal. I bet I didn't even gain 10 hp but its all a mentality thing. If you haven't already done so, I would say Coil over is the first mod everyone should make. Handles so much better and looks more aggresive at the same time.
If you want sound enhancement do the exhaust, I'm not go0nna recommend one becuase everyone here thinks there personal exhaust sounds the best
Your driving a na Porsche so if you want power step up to a supercharger, otherwise I wouldn't bother making your wallet lighter....
Best performance mod: Drivers school, then handling....
my 2 cents

Thanks, I know what you mean about the gains but I'm 100% modding the exhaust note and was just wodering if I go for a complete 'package' of goodies.
I've currently got a '99 C4 with quite a few mods inc the X51 powerpack so kind of mod addicted already. The coilovers will be done eventually but in London there's alot of speed bumps and pot holes so -30mm might be pushing the grounding limit. Actually selling a complete BNIB PSS9 kit for the C4 so know the benefits of the system. Not going to SC, yet...
Will probably go down the EVOMS and Miltek route, I'll have a think when I pick up the car this weekend...

Option 2 - that gives you the exhaust and some tuning to pick up the benefits of the other mods. You may even want to consider the full EVOM cold air intake rather than just the filter.
