Another cat question.... 997 cats?

Somebody is selling 997 cats out of a low mileage car on ebay for $250 (both!)

Do anybody knows if the cats will work on a 996?

Thanks! picking the car tomorrow!

Joel,

Go to Fabspeed and look at pics. and application. Or call Fabspeed to see if 996 & 997 have the same plumbing.

The Pipe Moldings are diffrent from the 996... thats why you cant swap 997 Mufflers into a 996, Unless you do a little Customs Cuting and Welding...

I knwo this because one of my Cat had givin out about 3 months back... Had it replaced under Warranty and i asked my Service Rep if they put the 997 Cat-Pipes... He said they are not Swapable because the They are diffrently Molded

I think your service guy fed you a line. Wouldn't be the first time. At least for the aftermarket folks the 996/997 cats and cat bypass are interchangeable. Same thing with the heads. I am pretty sure the reason the 997 mufflers don't exhange with the 996 only has to do with the placement of the rear bumpers exhaust cut out...porsche made it ever so slightly different.

Are the 997 cats better? Is there a benefit to this?
