Audio options question

Looking at buying a '00 996. I was told it has the 'Digital Sound Package'. Just wondering what this option includes (is it the same as the fiber-optic system) and how hard it is to upgrade speakers/head unit with this option. Searched through the forums but couldn't find the answer.

Thanks

It's an option and has speakers in the doors as well as amp/digital equalizer. Base stereo do not have speakers in doors. Stereo is completely upgradable to external amps, stereo, headunit, nav etc. It's a pretty weak system IMO.

In 2002, Bose was offered as an option in response of market. It's a worthy stereo IMO but tend to be too much bass.

In 2003, stereo became Fiber Optic based. Hard/$$$ to upgrade.

Thanks. My current car was a pain to upgrade, and I'd like to avoid the hassle a second time.
