Service Bulletin on Air Bag Light?
Service Bulletin on Air Bag Light?
My air bag light is on. I've traced the problem to the driver's side seat belt latch. I was told there was a service bulletin regarding this and the fix is a new wiring harness and two new seat belt latches. Total cost of parts from the dealer is about $350.00 plus about that again for installation. I can definitely install these parts myself, my question is, does anyone know where to get these parts other than from the dealer? Or is the is the kind of fix you have to buy from the dealer?
i have had the same problem... and i know people have bypassed the system all together by not even using the seatbelt electronics. the bypass, as i am aware is basically using a 100ohm resistor in line on one of the two circuits (one circuit for the passenger side).
i believe this is waht is done when you go to using a race harness and no seatbelts at all..
i would like to know if this is the right way to do it as i will again be installing full harness w/ roll bar again this summer...

Seat belt buckle warning light TSB
TSB #6924, "Seatbelt Buckle Airbag Warning Light" dated Oct 11, 2002. It is available to contributing members at Renntech.org. Just go to the "DIY Menu" drop down, select "Current TSB's", and select "Carrera (996) TSB's". Once there, do a search on "belt" and 4 TSB's display.
