Remote won't open door after a week
I travel for business and am usually away for as many as 5 or 6 days at a time without starting my car. After I return and try to unlock my door via the remote key -- the car does nothing. I have to insert the key and turn in order to open the door.
I thought it could be the battery going low, but the gauge reads okay, and the car fires right up and drives well. (windows, radio, etc.)
Any ideas?

Okay, thanks.
Part of the reason why I inquired was to avoid a potential problem and because I wanted to pick up the body colored key plug from BumperPlugs.
Do you know if that plug is difficult to remove so I can use the key, or will that repeated process make the plug wear and eventually fall out?
Thanks,
Joe

The plug is easy to remove, just have to use your fingernail slightly to "start" it...then you can pull it out easily. I've done this many times, I doubt it has any affect on how well the plug holds itself in.
It was a little annoying at first, but now it only takes a second.
Definitely do the keyhole plug.

My car did not come with a manual when I bought it used either. Anyone know how much they are from the dealer or where I can get one since the stealership will probably be most expensive to buy from?

I just bought the car a few months ago and it didn't come with the owner's manual.
I intend to pick one up when I find one though.

Same thing was happening to me except it would be weeks sometimes before I would drive the pcar. How many days before the car goes into sleep mode anyhow? Is this so the car doesn't drain the battery, but the alarm is still armed with the red lights still flashing right?

I searched around on eBay and found a manual for a "buy it now" price of $150. Seems high. I'm going to keep searching.
Please let me know if you find a source that offers manuals.
if you are traveling and will not be driving the car and it is in your garage, just dont lock it.
I have a secured underground parking and I have my car cover on it...and since I only drive it one in a while I dont lock it.
Another thing is buy a battery tender, than no worries at all. I have the Porsche "cheap" one that plugs into the cig lighter and I plug in every few days to make sure my batt is nice and fresh.

yeah mine is in a underground parking lot as well. you're extremely lucky to have found an electrical outlet next to your parking space. wish i could use the charger.
YES! I know...BEFORE I bought the charger...I looked around...nothing in the garage space right? So I looked out the window..and BAM there was a 2 plug right outside for the GARDEN lights and sprinklers! They were only using one plug so I just tap in whenever I need it on the top one! hahahaha....you are 100% right...underground parking..usually no outlet for you.
