When First Start it, It Smokes?
All,
I had a similar problem on my 2003 C2, which smoked on startup after
a DE run, but not during normal, sedate everyday driving. Eventually,
I minimized this effect (but not completely gone) by the following:
1 - check/replaced the Air-Oil Separator
2 - check that the oil level is at 5 (out of 8) bars on the gauge, or no more
than 2/3 full on the dipstick, prior to a DE event
(1), I suspect, because it may be getting saturated from too-high oil level
sloshing around the "integrated dry sump" during high-g load conditions, and
(maybe) getting past the windage tray.
(2), I suspect, exacerbates the problem, since I have measured oil expansion
at about 3 bars (out of 8) from a "normal" oil level check during sedate driving
conditions to full-on, drive the motor fast for 20~30 mins during a typical
DE session. Hot oil expands, and this is how much expansion I've noticed.
I suspect that going in with a normally "full" oil level may lead to it being
"overfull" when hot,
and easier to saturate the AOS, which then gets ingested into the intake on
next startup.
These are my observations - it would be great if someone who has this problem
shares their notes as well.
