New intake for the 996.
Just got he GruppeM intakes in for 996's. It's very light and looks killer. I have not yet put one on a dyno, but GruppeM Japan claims 5% increase in H.P.
"What is that? An air cleaner enclosure? It sure does not look like an intake manifold."
yep, just looks like a new airbox. "5% hp gain"? come on.

claims are easy to make. i cut holes in my airbox and it makes 10% more hp - see how easy that was? you guys don't have a dyno? i'm sure you'd easily make up the dyno costs in sales if you could back up their "claim".
"do you think mattla is telling a tale??? i dont think so...he is a trust worthy guy..."
of course he isn't telling a tale, but i'm not sure why he is using a "claim" of a supplier who IS probably telling a tale when testing that claim is so easy.

Ben is right
I don't think that anybody is trying to mislead anyone, but the truth of the matter is, that all of these claims about increased HP from replacing your air cleaner or air filter have always been debunked. They do look nice however, but that is all you get, a nice looking air filter box.
These things are as old as the hills. I was looking at a 1952 Road and Track magazine the other day, and in the back was an ad for an air cleaner box that claimed a 10 HP increase for your Jaguar roadster.
I wonder how much extra HP you can get if you simply remove the air cleaner entirely?
