Some nimrod scraped the "Carrera" logo off my rear deck lid, apparently with a knife. Has anyone else experienced or heard of this? Hope it isn't a trend, like stealing MB and Jag hood ornaments.

 

I'm truly sorry...some people are so disrespecting of the property and hard work of others.

I hope the paint is OK and I just bought a replacement badge for my carrera from e-bay for $12 from "The Drivers Corner". Hope this helps

can anyone tell if the 997 Carrera badges are chrome or just painted silver like the current Carrera 4 badges?

 

That depends on if you get OEM (Direct from Porsche) parts or not. The Porsche Parts are Plastic with a Chrome overlay. As for the aftermarket I have seen both Plastic and Metal with Chrome.

I personally would go with the Plastic option as cheap as it sounds. You will not get the “pitting� that you would with the Metal aftermarket logos plus you will get a true logo and not a knock off.

I should add the silver that you are referring too is call Titanium and is a painted on finish offered by Porsche.
