Track Day

yeah, yeah, i know i said i don't track my car. but a new track opened only 30 miles from my house and they invited PCA members to drive for free. how could i not go?

the most exciting moment of the day was when a guy in a 968 spun out in a complicated uphill curve with two breaking points.

here's some snaps of the cars that were there:

this C4S was a real sleeper. looks pretty stock except for the sport seats, but the guy did a 3.8 engine swap with full race exhaust. it's pumping out 400hp and sounds wicked.

in between group runs, the owner of this 928 race car did exhibition laps. man that thing is fast.

i just liked the dark blue paint on this 930. that's my C4S on the left.

a nice red older car...

obligatory group shot.

Nice, got any pics of the track and facilities. Always like seeing new tracks, oh, any pics on the car on the track?

Decent fee schedule too. I'd like to see a higher upfront fee and lower track day fees though.

$100 a day could add up quickly but really no more than a good golf course around here

no track pics. once the driving started, i put away the camera. i was too excited to take pictures. i think there are some aerial shots on their website.

there's not much in the way of facilities there now. just porto-potties -- ick . there's the skeleton of a large building under construction and a temporary viewing platform.

i was by myself so no one was there to take photos of me rocketing along in the novice group. we did a follow-the-leader thing. i was basically trying to watch the leader to learn the correct line. i may have hit 90 on one of the straights and never got out of third gear.
