I have a Lapis C4S and enjoy it as much as you do yours. I'd probably go with the 997C4S (cab possibly) over a 996TT when I'm ready to move on. Good luck with your dilemma.

that is not a 998, there is no such thing. I think that i have seen some excellent photo shop skills from this guy before. If i was wrong then we would be seeing threads about this all day, the same way we see a bunch of stuff about the rear tailights being diff on the '09's or about the rumored 30 hp gain for 09's. Toodles

+1 the 997 is so front ugly, looks like a VW Beetle.

boxin, i don't feel as strongly as you put certainly do see the resemblance. i still think the 997 looks incredible when done up right, but in stock form, again, it's nothing too cool looking.

I'd go for power over front headlights/interior. Go for the TT.

what's more important to you, styling or tune-ability? i would buy a 996TT in a heartbeat because it's a wide-body (like the 997) and i don't care much about the 997 headlights or interior, and a 996TT can make 500hp with nothing more than a softronic (or any leading brand) ECU flash.

again, that's just me. some folks track the subtle styling cues pretty closely and think the 997 is better. maybe you can get deal on a 997TT: best of all worlds!

unlike the 996's where some models get wider in the back and some don't, all the 997 models get wider in the back. i don't know if they still use the term "wide body" or not, since all of them are wide now.

ben will definitely know the details. he's way more into it than me. i just noticed that all the 997s seem to be wider than the narrow 996s.

Here's the order (going from narrow to widest):

996 NB < 997 NB < 996 WB < 997 WB

Tough choice, I think I'd go with the newer car for a daily driver (I'd only go for a C2S or C4S). If you're looking for maximum performance, then 996TT for sure.

There are still width differences in the 997 line. The 997S is wider than the standard 997. All are wider than a 996 NB.

erub, are you sure about that? I believe the S and non-S share the same body. meaning there's no narrower than a carrera S meaning carrera and carrera S in the 997 line-up share the same body/width.

Visually the 997 narrows aren't a deal breaker for me because.. of the more pronounced hips in comparison to the 996 narrows. i mean look at the 997 GT3, that's supposed to be a narrowbody.

if power/performance is what you want, the TT is a no brainer. The power potential is amazing.
