Amazing day at Lime Rock

Went to Ferrari challenge at Lime Rock on Saturday. First, the parking area was a sight in itself. Porsches from vintage to current, as well as every other car you could think of. I test drove the new Maserati coupe as well. It felt about as fast as C2, but not nearly as light or well handling. The ride home was the best. Driving at speeds on average of 120 mph with 3 575's and 4 360 coupes. My C2 hung with the 360's but that 575 is just a monster. 515 horsepower is just crazy. I have pics of my car and the ferraris on the highway. I will post as soon as I get them from my buddy's camera.

Glad to see you had a good time. I attended the event myself and was a bit dissapointed with the actual racing itself. After attending the ALMS race their on the 5th, this was a bit of a let down. No driver was really pushing it and the competition was very weak. The pits were very interesting as well as the older model Ferraris. The last historic race of the day had the leader running the same lap time as the 360 challenge cars!!

"I test drove the new Maserati coupe as well. It felt about as fast as C2, but not nearly as light or well handling."

I was at Thunderhill (Nor Cal) in May with a private group that had rented the track and they had a salesman from the local Mas dealer there with a coupe giving demo rides, etc. He happened to catch me in traffic on I-5 in my C2 on the way back to the Bay Area, so I opened it up to 150+ but couldn't pull away from him. As luck would have it, we eventually caught up to a CHP but there was a car between us and it was a nonevent. We lost the cop when we turned off onto I-505 (a truly great road for high speed runs--very rural, mostly straight and you can see for miles ahead), where I let him pass. We got into the 150's again and I was right on his tail the whole time. So, you're correct that speed-wise the cars are very similar.

I used to love going to Lime Rock in the 80's for the IMSA Memorial Day race, watching the 962's kick butt. Great spectator track with nice scenery (automotive and otherwise).

I heard the 360 had to park in the dirt because there were too many ferraris?
