New 996 owner saying hi!

I picked this up a few months back and love it coming from a 540i sport with 6-speed. It came with some nice options like litronics, X030 sport group, crest in headrests, and DSP sound (is it really worth it?). The previous owner did some nice "upgrades" to the car as well: smoked corner markers, 18" ATP (AT Italia) wheels, B & B headers, Scnell cold air "kit".

I've been lurking on the web site and finally desided to come out and say hi. I'm also looking for some help and comments from everyone. A couple of questions too regarding exterior for now.

1) Planning to do some more upgrades to exterior like silver hood crest, tinted windows, and possibly painting center of rims to body color???

2) Wanting to add a "chin" spoiler and a "whale tail" type rear spoiler as I've always wanted a 911 (930?) with a whale tail as a kid, is this too "old school" for this car?

3) Are the headers and cold air kit doing much other than possibly sound for this car? Should I do more to help these parts (or a waste of money)?

4) Would "mufflers" really help the sound improve? I'm not looking for anything too loud as I'd like to "road trip" the car occasionally!

Thanks in advance for any and all help/comments!

Congrats and welcome!
Car looks real clean in that shot.
My thoughts on your ?'s
1)Those are all personal taste like items....go with how you feel it needs to be
2)You have a stock non aero front bumper like me. I have not been able to find any chin addons. Only option for us it seems is to replace with a racer front bumper.
3)Headers seem to not add much to the NA cars. The Schnell CAI is mostly sound
4) There are MANY muffler options from mild to wild. You should be able to find one that sounds right for you. Check out the numerous soundclips.

Have fun!

Thanks for the input! Regarding the chin spoiler, I thought I read on here somewhere that the GT3 cup "add-on" would work on our bumbers with some minor work to them??? I may just pony up and get a whole new front cover though?

Yeah I like the MK1 bumper. That is the one thing I wasn't able to get on my recent purchase. The car had enough other upgrades to and was priced right so I figured I could buy a new front if I really wanted.

Yeah, I'll have to check out the MKI front from the sounds of it. Also, any hot tips on a "whale tail" for my car? Thanks to all for the positive comments too ....

Thanks bentlink, looks like I'll be busy for a while surfing. Question, the rear spoiler in the photo posted, does the factory spoiler raise into that one creating a "flush" surface or does the factory spoiler even work with that one?

Welcome- nice ride, you'll have a blast "upgrading" it

My fav upgrades:
1. KWv3 coilover suspension https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...talled+variant
2. Kenwood double-din NAV/DVD DNX7100 https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...talled+kenwood
3. K&N CAI (great sound!)
4. Agency Power mufflers (great sound)
5. Cup lip on stock bumper (now replaced by full GT3 Cup bumper)

Here is my DIY for adding a GT3 cup lip to the standard OEM bumper. It's a 2-hour DIY and not hard at all. $225 or so for the part and does make a noticeable diff on front downforce. Parts needed, photos etc all on pages 1,2 of this thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...talled+gt3+lip
