Painted wheel question?
Jason....they turned out nice. My compliments.
And excuse my Techart ignorance....but is that available on order?......or, whenever I see that look, is it someone who did what you have done....i.e. took them to your shop, had them leave the outer lip clean (machined or brushed)....paint the centers....clear all.
Thanks in advance.

thanks! i didn't have to do much work though, only had to pay the bill

i do not believe TechArt does custom orders but then again, i'm sure if you pay them well enough, they can do anything for you.
you can order them from CEC wheels who is an authorized Techart dealer for customer colors, but then again, they will charge you an arm and a leg
what i did was pickup a good used set on ebay a while back, drove them for a while (beat them up), the a few years down the line, got them re-finished at a local wheel shop
just note some issues to be aware of, when doing custom lettering, the guy paints it by hand, so be-ware of the person doing it, 3 wheels came out nicely on my car, one of them came up kindof strange.
centercaps- when you get them painted, they won't fit 100% back into the wheel since of the extra thickness of the paint.. so have them fitted BEFORE you mount the wheel on the car... we had and issue to them not fitting AFTER we mounted the wheels on the car (had to remove all 4 wheels and make them fit)
and i heard some people saying how the metal on the TechArt wheels are bad and NOT to CNC finish the lips due to the metal shine not coming out well. to my knowledge, i've seen two sets done with the lips CNC machined + clear coat and it comes out pretty well.
and just for a reference price, i paid $175/wheel so 700 total + tax for all four painted/straightened/tire remounted/wheels remounted on car
Powdercoated my original wheels to use on the track (Black, glossy). It cost $500 total for all 4 (including mounting and balancing new set of tires I provided) from a shop in Tampa (Glenn's Wheel and Tire). Well worth it. I heard all the concerns about "can't see a crack" and I don't know if I would have done it to an aftermarket wheel but I figure the stock Porsche 18" is probably about as strong as it gets.
They look great but nothing hides brake dust
