Question HELP NEEDED Removing rear Seat/s Please

Help needed.

As much as I would like to say I am removing my rear seats, for track days and making my car lighter .

I would like to know how to remove one or both of my rear seats, to enable a better fit for my son's car seat. As cabriolet owners know the rear seats face forewards slightly at the top, which is not idea with a child seat fitted. Removing one seat, not just the velcro cushions should give an extra couples of cms/inch or so.

I never use the rear seats for passengers and the child seat isn't fitted very often, but life would be better for the lad with this extra space (especially at the top).

Thanks for your help - in advance.

Porsche sells car seats for the kids specifically made for the 996. The Tequipment catalog doesn't give a part number, it says "Please see your authorized Porsche Dealer...blah, blah, blah". This may be the best option as the backs are hinged in pretty well from the looks of my 02 Cab. My little girl is bigger than most her age of 3 and fits in the back seat perfectly without a car seat as long as the belt is to the outside of the plastic pull handle on the top of the seat back. I know the mommy patrol will howl in horror at the thought but look at those little seats...those were not meant for adults anyway. A friend in town who's a policeman looked at them and said, "They look like they ARE carseats".

Thanks for your help guys, I am a special guest this weekend at the Carrera Cup at Donnington Race Track. I will ask one of the many people there.

Thanks again, I let you know whether it is better with the extra room.

Colin
