DME Chip Upgrade for 2002+ 3.6L N.A. 996

Please relate your experience with DME Chip / ECU upgrades for the 2002+ 3.6L N.A. 996, as it relates to performance, suppliers, and cost.

I'm trying to determine if the upgrade is worthwhile (within my budget constraignts).

This is a good question. Doing a search it seems most people on this and other sights say that you can not feel any great difference other than the rev limiter raise. I chipped my last sports car(300zx) and I was never sure. While it wasn't a P car the chip people claim the same gain....18 or so HP. This on a 3000 lb + car? I have read that doing suspension upgrades is something you can feel. Other than that a supercharger. Believe me I wish I could do a chip, an exhaust and free flow intake and realize 30 to 40 hp increase. I live near fabspeed and keep thinking I should go and talk to them. But I know they sell this stuff and maybe they are biased. I hope someone can chime in with better or more information.

save your money...especially on the 3.6 - Porsche engineered all the ponies out of this setup...
On the 3.4 a slightly more HP gain is possible but even then it is not worth the $$ IMO

Yeps, I think the 3.6L is pretty maxed out. better to spend the money on some suspension, exhaust etc...

Thank you for the feedback. Looks like I'll have to look towards a TT next time around, however I'll be keeping the NA for a few more years.

I think the only way to achieve some power, is to go with a power pacakge such as air filter, chip, headers, exhaust and cats. I think you could gain about 35-40 hp that way. I know that TechArt, Gemballa and Cargraphic offer agressive packages. You can also pay a little more and go with the EVO supercharger. Good luck.
