'Heavy' gear change question

I've searched for some ideas but can't see anything related.
Yesterday I noticed my gear change was getting 'heavier'. It was taking more force to select a gear. It's not the cold oil issue as the car was fully warmed up and had been driven for a good 45min. I recently had a shorter shift fitted and everything felt great, really smooth and precise. That was last wednesday and things felt fine till yesterday after a marathon wash and wax. There's no clutch slip and pedal travel is good.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Name brand SSK or ebay special? I have seen some posts saying the bushings and washers on the ebay special are made of inferior plastic and might cause that.
