Oil changes are the most basic maintenance you can do to your car. The oil needs to be changed frequently because it is DIRTY, not because it breaks down and loses lubricating purposes. The oil collects all the contaminants from the air & fuel plus the by products of the combustion process. Just because synthetic oil will maintain its lubricating ability for 10X longer than non-synthetic doesn't mean it stays clean that long. Clean oil makes your engine run better and last longer.
