High performance audio system--worth it?

Just curious if anyone has the "High Performance Audio System" installed...it looks like you get a 2x160W amp w/ two funky looking door speaker pods. Saw it browsing through Carnewal and seemed a little spendy ($2.5k!) and wanted to see if anyone had it since i've never seen that option.

It's good though I don't know if it's worth the dough. I have it along with the two option rear speakers.

It all depends if your into your music and it is essential for your driving enjoyment. If your going to spend $2,500 alone for speakers, I think your better off going to a good local stereo shop and get a navigation installed with some upgraded speakers.

Yeah i figure $2500 for a "factory" stereo is pretty steep, especially since it's ONLY an amp and some speakers. I think my soundtrack will be a PSE with another $1000 for tires or sway bars or a whole lotta stickers...

When the HPAS came out 4 years ago every one wanted it. You do not see it mentioned much since Bose came out. It use to be a factory option. A few years ago a local Boxster owner had the retrofit kit put in.

Last year Fairfield Porsche was selling several kits on ebay for $1,295.

I agree with you uberjeph, not worth it. I have the Bose currently in my Turbo and probably going to go with the Reus Audio upgrade, since they will do it at the Porsche dealership and will transfer it to any other vehicle for a minimal charge. I'll let you know how it goes if your interested.
