Why go w/ the 997 based motor? The 996 based 3.6 is so much easier. IMHO if you were to do all the work to put in a 997 3.6 just make it a 3.8 to make it worthwhile.
I spoke to a really great guy at Orton...English I believe. But super, super nice. In our 15 min conversation he gave me all the confidance in the world. If I were in Atl he'd have the car no question

PM sent...my questions were why the 3.6 and not the 3.4 or 3.8 and how hard was the conversion to the 3.6

Guys - thanks for all your help with this

I live in DC and had my car shipped to Roock Autosport in Atlanta to have it done. They did my buddies upgrade/swap previously and also a great result.

I couln't find anyone near me that had done it before and/or knew how to do it. They were all more than eager to learn how to do it on my dime. No thanks.

I am in a interesting situation in that the shop that has the car has given me two options
1) $3400 and return the car as is
2) I buy an engine and they put it in and don't charge me labor on the install - and I'm sure they just had the 3.4 in mind. But seriously as the customer why not try to make this a better experience that I can speak well about?

So, is the shop the same that sold you the car? How long ago?

I've seen a couple GT3 engines floating around the net as well but they are pricey. I'd take the money and get the car shipped to someone with swap experience. If you want to go that route.

The OP title states using a 997S engine which is a 3.8.
