Amber lenses

This has been probably asked many times but I'm hoping!

Is there any way to change the amber portion (to clear) of the headlights on an early '99 966 without replacing the whole unit which is very expensive?

No, you have to replace the headlights. Try ebay or for sale section, they pop up from time to time. Clear headlights are usually around $500-700. Litronics are usually $1000 for the set.
