997 info

It's amazing.. can't find 997 info on Porsche website for US, but it's all there on the Great Britain Porsche website.

What are we...red meat?? Don't we account for 50% of Porsche sales??

Porsche 997 info on Porsche GB website

Agreed. But I'm sure they don't want to push the new stuff too hard here with plenty of 996's laying around. I was just asking my dealer last weekend what he was going to do with all those 996's when the 997's start arriving.... don't know.

You'd think that as their largest market, the US would get the new models at least at the same time as Europe, but the European car makers have always (as long as I can remember)released new models earlier (anywhere from 2 - 6+ months) in Europe than in the US. I'm hearing that the new M5 will hit our shores about a year after it's introduced in Germany.

I found this yesterday but couldn't build one with prices.
The GB site lets you configure a carrera and carrera s but not the turbo s.

I think they will delay the new cars (997s) until they either sell most of the 996s or they cant wait any longer. It really doesn't help that all the major car mags have big articles on the virtues of the 997. Noticed this week that along with price drops on the TT, there were some gt2s that had more reasonable pricing (read: I think people are trying to get out of 996 style cars before values really tank). My 540i took a huge plunge after the new banglized 5 series came out. just my 2c.

It's already happened. Car dealers and the books have already dropped the pricing. Had a Lexus GS300 and it's value just dropped because 2006 model is different. Consumers don't know but the prices are suddenly "more reasonable"....Similar thing happened as well to my Range Rover. Dealer offered me $2500 for a 1995 that was mechanically perfect, had excellent paint and slight intertor wear. Sold it for 4 times that with a simple phone call at the dealers desk. Then bought a new Rover without the trade and actually got a better deal.

I think the car market is soft in general right now. The market is only so big and with so many new models, rebates, and financing incentives the last 2 years, I think we're just shopped out. Especially when it impacts resale/trade values so bad its a royal bleeding.
