Truck full of Porsches
Truck full of Porsches
This morning on my way to a meeting I noticed a transport truck in front of me with an abstract 996 cup car logo on the back of it with the porsche emblem on the side of it. It said not for hire on it so I knew it had to be a race team. They pulled into a ******* Barrell parking lot which was accross the street from the hotel where I was going. Since I was early I decided to see if the guys operating the truck and transport might let me take a gander at what they got in the trunk! They were really cool and opened the transport right up for me to walk around in. They had an '02 996 Cup Car in black with 200 miles on it that one the only race it's raced in so far and a 993 which took second in the last race in gray both race ready. I asked them where they were headed since they had Ontario plates and I was in Palm Bay florida which meant they could be going to a number of tracks. They said they were headed for Homestaed for the race on the 28th. I went a couple years ago with Shawn C and it was a blast. I just might have to go again this year. Anyway, I asked them what they changed on the car to make it race ready and they said not much, the owner bought it off the floor of a porsche showroom and only changed the clutch, brakes and a couple minor things but the mostly the car was stock. The interrior was the same as my 03 996. It felt pretty good to know that they don't change too much when they race them. It was the highlight of the morning I can tell you that.
Anyone up for a meet in Homestead for the race?
