Hey guys just picked up this shift **** and boot from Suncoast. Im hoping it looks good I have Graphite Grey Int w Alumn trims, they have a week refund policy so thats cool. I have the OEM Alumn Exclusive one know with the Alumn Horseshoe piece on the bottom. Has anyone swapped that horseshoe piece onto the new one? Can you do this? Also how hard is it to swap these? I don't know if the horse shoe itself can be installed on the shift boot since they typically come installed together. Switching shifters is a snap though, it took be 10 min tops to swap mine out.

 

I have the exact same one, and it was a snap to install. should only take you 10-15 TOPS. just pull up and YANK hard as hell to pull it off. its only pressure fitted no screws to mess around with. looks and feels great.

Don't forget the short shift

 

can't take off the ring. you don't want to anyway. i got the same shifter as you (good buy) and it will intall without a ring as seen here in the attached photo of this 04' gt3. here is mine installed with steering wheel from suncoast as well:

i also recommend the 997 linkage. i'm very happy with the improved feel and shorter throw (1"). bought mine used for $150 shipped.

so basically for me to install would be where the trim is on the bottom use something to snap that off slide the boot up check for a screw, if not then yank it up and off, then just pop the new one on and snap the bottom on?

im not a DIY type of guy haha

the bottom piece just pops off. just use your fingers put them on the leather part and your thumb on the outside ring part and 'pop' it off.

then, the rest is just like you said, slide the boot up to look at the neck of the shift ****, you will not miss the screw if its there.


BUT i have that same shifter and mine doesnt have a screw. if it doesnt have the screw, just pull it straight up. it will be really hard to pull up, but thats normal, dont worry. then it will just kind of pop off too.

the best looking ones are the CF OEM ones... not a fan of the joystick style per the above
