I have read that article...ALOT of glaring errors....most notably...most people get a full luxury version, then expect it to handle like a sports car? Its got a softer suspension and lighter steering feel....why not test the "SPORT PACKAGED" IS350 with sport springs and sport tuned steering? That one just MAY handle better and have a different, more connected steering feel...just maybe? lol.....Also the driving aids CAN be completely turned off even though they said they cannot.....

As a Californian to a fellow Californian, admit it Newport, you made a HUGE financial mistake. Move on, cut your loss and move back to Porsche. You know that ladies won't even look at those Lexus SUV's (IS350). Even in it's stock form, my Acura MDX still sits lower............

What are you smoking Newport?? I'd like some!

PS: just to clarify, by HUGE financial mistake, I meant that you will take it in the shorts for your leased 2006 IS350 SUV and then have to finance a real sports car. As Jed Clampett would say, "PORSCHE that is..........."

Its simple...I paid 30k for an 06 IS 350 with 18k miles....Carmax is buying 06 IS's for 31k....its that simple...996's can be bought in the low 20s....out of warranty repairs for one can be VERY expensive...its a NICE car. Agreed....i am in no way saying that a Lexus IS is a better car than a 996....better car for daily driving? maybe...better handling? no...fun? YES its a fun car...but so is a Porsche....thats the point....why paint yourself into a corner when there are LOTS of fun cars out there....Oh and on a hot day with my seat coolers running and my voice activated touchscreen Nav and Mark Levinson DVD A/V system playing (including blutooth iPhone connectivity and audio integration and control from the touchscreen) and I am driving down PCH....I dont miss the 996.....Now on those canyon roads, with the radio and AC OFF, and the sound of the flat six screaming.....a Porsche cant be beat....different tools for different jobs.....

$30K for a 3-year old Lexus, their bottom of the line at that. You are definitely snorting magic mushrooms. GEEEEZZZ.
Take that SUV down 'that' Coastal road and note that NOT one person would even look at it, not even the older set. Now take my Beautiful 996 down the same road and ladies galore! No matter where I go, ladies flock. I don't hate Lexus, I believe they have their place, that being North of Toyota and South of Ford, that's all.

Please do everyone a favor and take your miniture SUV to a Lexus forum. Then you can rant and rave about how perfect you 'think' it is........

Wow, not what I was expecting Newport has owned a 996 and a IS, so he should have the best idea of what works for what. I too have a 996 and want to get rid of it and move into something else that is more practical for daily driving in rough roads with twins aboard. Like I said earlier, its all about compromises and to each his own.

INMHO the IS is a great compact sedan that does many things very well. Extremely reliable, no issues, great customer service and not too bad on the depreciation slope. The F version just makes it that much better, fake tailpipes and all.

As someone who got beat down to the ground a few years ago said: "can't we all just get along?!"

NEVER did I need 4 wheels to attract ladies....but if it works for you....congrats....My cars are about what I like...not what others look at or what others THINK. Its a shallow person that needs others to look at him for him to feel good about himself.....

For some strange reason, this picture reminds me of Newport and his IS350 SUV on the 'Pacific Coast Highway"..................

We always seem to have some ignorant clown out here to make remarks about chicks and Porsches. Dude if you bought a P car because of chicks than you should also buy yourself a thick gold chain too.LOL
