2003 996 C4S Winter Prep
I'm rochester and it's 90 outside right now. it's not really as bad as people make it out to be. You'll want to store the car anytime there is salt on the roads (not just because it's cold) which will be nov/dec until mar/april so that leaves plenty of time to drive your toy.
theblue, I love that picture...if only the white car was out of the picture though, would be more posterlike. I am flying out to Syracuse next week to look for homes, I found some very nice dwellings in Syracuse North area and am eager to see them. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE HOUSE GENTLEMEN IS? THATS RIGHT, GARAGE! these homes have nice 2 or 3 car garages. I will keep all the advice i got here in mind, and will make an offer only if im absolutely certain i can handle the cold, snow, lake effect and winter blues. LOL.
Heh- I am from Hawaii originally. SoCal is the "coldest" other location I am willing to deal with.
I tried Tacoma Washington for a year or so but just couldn't hang with the constant cloud cover and looooooooong winter nights. (really long- really, really, really, really long). - Good snowboarding and hiking though.

well i have googled many many articles and images on winter/snow in Syracuse. And you guys are all correct (dont blame u for being in FL now by the way) It is not pleasant!!! Everyone warned me and i should probably listen and stay in Cali, maybe go north to Washington. When i read Winter prep and snow tires for this post i figured i should look into it as well, but im starting to think twice. Wikepedia had some helpful info...like 17 degree winters and 75 degree summers (not my cup of tea). I will give it some serious thought before going out shopping for a home out there next week. Thanks everyone, very very helpful info. Did we get an answer for winter tires yet for danrx3? is he a pharmacist by the way? cuz i am.
It's funny because people who grow up there can't wait to more some place warm. People who grew up here in Florida can't wait to leave to a place like upstate NY. It's all about change and some people really enjoy the vastly different season. Some winter will be mild other will be terrible as in -20 wind chill with the whole city closed down from snow. I use to ski 6 days a week now I like to play golf and go to the beach. Although the Rochester area had a bunch of world class golf courses that I miss.
