The autobahn has had limits around Cities for many years. The EU wants Germany to impose a limit on all autobahns. There are less unlimited autobahns then ever - especially in south Germany.

What is the difference between the 996 and 997 AH mufflers? Can one make the 996 mufflers work on a 997 with minimal work of a muffler shop? Maybe just making an extra extension?

Having had AH on both my 996 and 997 (and still loving it btw!! ) - you can indeed mod a 996 set for 997, but it will take adding extension pieces on the cat side and the tailpipe side. I mean, look at some of the pricey name brand "997" mufflers for sale. They just sell you a set of 996 mufflers, throw in a couple of extension connector pipes and clamps, and call them "997 mufflers" - wow, now that is just awesome design work!! LOL.

Call Brian at AH and ask him about the modding- I know he'll give you the straight dirt. IIRC the 997 pipes are specifically designed to an optimal length, so it is more than just basic fit. That's all I know about it really, other than it works great-
