Dummy about Tire Sizes : Need Advice

I am on a mission to replace my 2 rears on my 04 C2 Cab. Currently I have PZeros sized at 285-30ZR19. I am planning to go to the Michelline PS2 but not sure what size I should move to (or should I stay with 285).

I figure I can go to 305 or 315 but I also want to keep the low profile that the 30 size gave me. What are your opinions on a "best" tire size .. of course realizing that "best" is subjective. Is increasing the tread width worth the price differences?

Any and all opionions/advice are appreciated.

Thanks!
Rob

What width are you rims?

I have 19x10.5" on my rears and I am still debating whether or not to go with 295's or 305's...... but that's only because I don't think my narrow body can handle to 315's.

It all depends on offsets. Narrow body cars can take 11" rims with the correct offsets. I am running 19x11s with a 67mm offset with PZero 295/30s mounted. The 305/30s were too wide for this offset in Bridgestones; found out the hard way With different offsets, others are using 305/30s. Also tire brands differ in size. See the offset calulator: http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp

You can only run 315s if you switch to a 25 profile tire; the 30 will be too tall.

They are definitely not 19" wide They would stick out about 8-9" more per side and run a tire that does not exist like a 520-550 width series tire. The are probably in the 9-11" range; probably 10".

I thought he was asking for rim diameter. Of course they are not 19" wide :-). As the title indicates I'm not too versed on proper tire dimensions. How would I know the offset? I assuem that's somethign the installer could tell me?

If it's not near the valve stem on the front, then it may be printed on the back backside somewhere? If neither, then look up the manufacturers site for the info or measure the actual rims.

I have a narrow body, 2002 C2, and I'm running 19x8 in the fronts and 19x11 in the backs. There are OEM lobsters with 235x35x19 fronts and 305x30x19 backs. My car is not lowered but the wheels fill the space really well. There's no rubbing under hard acceleration or turning. I don't see me going back to 295's after seeing the 305's in the back. Really awesome.
And btw, thanks to TDK for all the advise... I'm running your same wheels/same offsets.

You're welcome. Glad you were able to run the 305's that came with the rims. I had to go with the 295 PZero's; the 305 Bridgestones did not fit the hub properly according to the tech I saw it and there was a gap 1" between the back of the wheel hub and the rim. Strange considering the difference between the two tires is supposedly only 10mm wider and 6mm taller for the 305. The back side of the tire was touching the suspension arm. I was surprised since I thought that both of our cars had the same rear suspension dimensions; I am running a 2004 Silver Anniversay M30/M95 suspension w/ the Eibach Pro-Kit with no issues. Maybe it was skewed in hindsight?

I still have like 2" between the top of the rear tire and anything close by... Maybe is because my original OEM suspension. How low does the M30/M95 puts you? That really sucks.

The M30/M95 Porsche sport suspension with the Eibach kit sits perfect. There is no top gap in the rear and about an inch in the front. The M95 rear lowers by 10mm and the Eibach Pro-Kit Springs get you 1"/ 25.4mm more for a total of 35mm/1.39" rear and 25.4mm/1" front. If I am not mistaken the M30 ride height is approximately the same as stock.
