Maximum HP for a C4S
I loved my cabriolet 996 except for the power. When I talked to a tuner that I wanted to add mods for signiflcant power increase he quoted me big money just for 40 to 50 hp. He said for the power I want to start off with a turbo. So I did and still dont regret it. Hp can be addicting. I do agree I will never get the money back close to the money that I put into it but it is an adrenalin rush. I suggest that you know what kind of power you want and if it is in the turbo range at least test drive one, or you will put in a lot of money for a car that cant handle the power and lose resale vaule.
its not stupid... the whole argument isn't about value and resale either... its what the OP wants... who cares if you put more $$ in it than you can get out of it... your certainly not spending $$ to recoup it... many have their modified 911's as toys and don't worry about what its worth... they modify them for their enjoyment... I know of a 99 that had a GT3 motor installed... they told him it wasn't worth it... who are they to say its not worth it... the GT3 motor is bulletproof and I bet he will have a nice reliable toy for many years to come!!!
if you put a GT3 motor in a C4S then you will have some serious reliable horsepower.... I don't know if the X51 kit and what it costs will give you the "kick" your looking for either... its more of a track setup with higher torque on the top end.... your best bet and cheapest route is to look for a 997 3.8 motor and have it transplanted into the car... (or a 3.8 X51) motor forget about boring out cylinders and stuff... your car won't run properly and will vibrate ; it won't be smooth like a stock engine...

Thanks for the reply. It is interesting that every time someone wants more
power on a C4S, most people say "get a turbo". I am interested in more
power on this C4S, not a turbo. I just have to see who has done it, and
how much HP versus money. I will decide then.
