What a moron...
Can you believe this BS?

These guys are idiots:
"the 996...It was a compromise and a feeble attempt to fool the Porsche-files into accepting the child of a lesser god, for the benefit of Porsches profit margins.
No more will we have to listen to their propaganda cronies tell us why we should like it, even though the 996 look SUCKED, inside AND out!"
"No compromises on the 997!
Now THIS is a Porsche!
This car will NEVER go out of style!
It will go down in history as a great Porsche collectable."

Everyone knows Porsche employed "mass produced" assembly methods with the 996, without passing on those savings to the customer. There's a reason Porsche is the most profitable auto maker in the world.
It's interesting Porsche were able to sell the 996 to mostly first time 911 buyers. Gone are the days when 911s where build like brick ****houses...

The reason they were able to increase margins was because their old system was so antiquated and inefficient. They were sitting on tons of inventory and each car had to have a number of things fixed before it would leave the factory. We've all read the stories about how the Japanese consultants came in and taught them modern methods of production. So, profitability doesn't necessarily equate to low quality.
Sure there were many new buyer attracted to the 996, I'm one of them. (The 20 year out of date interior of the 993 kept me fom buying that model.) However, the 996 was by far the best selling version of the 911 ever and to move that many you have to have much broader appeal than to just newbies.
What that moron wrote was not just wrong, it was downright insulting. Sharing parts with the Boxster (an economic necessity to have the company survive), doesn't take away from the capabilities of the 996. (It's interesting that he gushes with praise about the 997, when it's still the same situation now. And, in another section of their "newsletter", they talk about the new Boxster getting the same interior as the 997.)
Clearly, the moron knows little about Porsches. No one who's ever been in my GT3 (or a Turbo or GT2) would say what he did about the 996.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion (even idiots like him), but to say that everyone hated the 996 and that they are all cheap junk just doesn't mesh with the facts.

I AGREE WITH YOU ALL , THE 996 I BELIeve saved porsche from going under (correct me if i am wrong)
the 996 is a great looking car, and i agree that the interior of the 993 was soo outdated, and teh styling was getting old (literally), i like the 993 but i love the 996, the look of the 996 was what made me jump into the porsche crest...
especailly the 996 healights i love how it looks, i would love to own a turbo in the near future, but for now i am loving my 996
