changing torque converter on 996

Hi, has anyone change the torque converter on a 996 tiptronic.
Do you need to overhaul the gearbox at the same time?
Appreciate your input.
Thanks.

I had a problem with my torque converter and the dealer ended up replacing the transmission.Luckily, I had an extended warranty at the time.

I usually shift the car. I smashed my left hand so I was in fully auto and the car is "lunging" hard when it shifts to 2nd or 3rd. Really feels like I am getting punched in the back. Is this the torque converter croaking?

hi Ken, I have the same problem, so I use the tiptronic to control the shifting of the gears.
Anyway, my new torque converter arrived this morning & is schedule to replace next week.
I will update you guys when it's done.
