UPDATE - Got the 996 back from the shop today with the oil separator replaced and paid for by Warranty Direct. They said they want to "keep their customers happy" and covered the repair, although YMMV.

FINAL UPDATE - Also got the dealer to replace the defective cat under California's 7/70 emission warranty.
