So It's a Week Old...
So I have had my 2003 C4S for a week now. I honestly love it. I had an M3 and then just a Ducati for a while and I can honestly say that this car is nearly perfect. It is as good a daily driver as I could ask for. I love how it looks and drives. I even love the interior (mine has sport seats and carbon everywhere.) the ONE category that I think could be improved is power. This may be due to the fact that it handles so well. I can take many turns at essentially full throttle. I was wondering, for my first mod(s), what I should do thats very cost effective to add some power. Im looking to spend around $1000 to start. I used to have an audi that i dumped about $15k into within a few weeks and only later realized how stupid it was. I want to take this slow. Any advice would be much appreciated. A good source recommended software and intake. I still have the GIAC tune from my audi and im told I may be able to get some credit for it towards a GIAC tune for my car. Thanks!
On these cars you can either
1. Spend thousands, a little at a time, for no real hp gains
2. SC it.
SC is the only real gain you'll ever get. Mufflers wil give you that sweet sound as do cold air intakes but no real hp gain.
Those who spend good money on all the "other" mods will tell ou it made a big difference as they just have to believe this.
Lots of unbiased info here and on rennlist to come up with your own conclusions.
I also would like more raw power but love the package and is not THAT important for me to have more...for now

Hey man it's Andreas from Porsche of Orlando. Cars looking good! Good luck with it : )
As far as mods the normal, exhaust, intake chip and plenum. That will waken it up nicely. If you add a SC you take away what the car originally was. NA cars are a beautiful thing. Like said above the Turbo is the one for power.

I'd use your GIAC/Audi credit towards a GIAC upgrade for the PCar along with an EVOMS V-Flow Air Intake. Retail price on these two is ~$1,700 less whatever GIAC/Audi credit you would get. These two combined should add ~15-20 HP.
After that you could go plenum, headers, 200 cell cat's and exhaust. The headers, cat's and exhaust depend on how loud you want the sound to be. These along with the chip and intake will put you at ~370 HP.

The gayest thing you can do is add X50 tips to it. I bet only some homo in CT would do that
(enjoy the tips Fly996...I was reallllllllyyyyy hoping you were going to be away from your computer all weekend and wouldn't paypal him for those!!

The stock air box/intake systems are designed by Porsche to allow more air than the engine needs. Cold air intakes do not force or supply colder air than stock, period
One reads nothing but mixed reviews on this topic.
Why would that be if it's a sure hp gain?
The after market companies will throw out their bs dynos for obvious reasons.
What everybody (including myself) agrees on is a very nice improvement in sound at WOT. That is all you get.
This sound comes from the removal of the muffler box not from all the extra air the engine is receiving.
Sorry to tell you but the N/A 996 is maxed out. If you got money to blow go for it but don't believe the bs
Installing a SC for 10,000+ is the only real gain you will get.
Those who really know will tell you to put your hard earned money on suspension, SSK, mufflers, wheels, etc....
The above examples WILL get you a noticeable return for your cash.

your ghetto fab thinking has it so that all those parts somehow add up like lego blocks to get you to this magical 370hp at the wheels power boost.
BS
here's my predictable request... post up some chartS (company sponsored and privately funded) with all those expensive things added to an na m96 engine showing the biggie curve.
for full disclosure, show us the price parts + labor of adding all those fancy things. it'll be funny how absolutely horrid the value for the dollar is.
my full disclosure is, I HAVE the GIAC/EVOMS setup which they market as "stage II". whatever the fuq all these "stages" mean, it's more like staging your ego step II styles.
someone needs to serve you up a cup of logic and taste, mr. frankenstein 911. lol nothing personal right?

I see that reading comprehension is not your strong suit (I never said 370 AT THE WHEELS). I have these upgrades and the dyno results to prove it Ms. Frankenstein
