Very Seriously Considering selling my 996...
There's a new toy in Dallas I am looking at and I suppose it hinges on selling my car. As many of you know I just put $13k into it for a new engine. I'd like to recoup some of that so my question is in your opinion would the market support a higher price for a car with a new engine with a 2 year warranty?
Good time to purchase a new toy, but the flip side is it's a lousy time to sell.
A new motor (I'm assuming it was purchased from Porsche and dealer installed) and warranty are certainly worth something. Unfortunately, I doubt it's worth as much as you would like. IMO, it's probably worth an extra grand on the purchase price at the most.
Just my opinion.

as someone who just bought a used 996 (and loving it!) i would definitely pay a bit extra for a new motor that was professionally installed. +$1k to 1.5k seems worth it, but thats assuming i'm starting with a sale price that's a great deal

imagine owning a 997 gt3 and .... RMS. i'd say it's more common in that group than ours.
it's a part of the deal. just be thankful that your engine hasn't blown up (IMS).
the only 911 i'd upgrade to next is the mk2 997 and above. i'd skip the mk1 997s if you already have the 996 3.6

My car comes off of CPO the end of this month so I was going to take it in to the dealer anyway, but over the past week I've had some issues. I had the car in getting a GT3 bumper installed and when I got it back the ignition switch flaked out. I found out today though PCNA is going to cover that. Next I was at a guys house this past weekend and had the car up on his lift and spotted oil under the transmission. That was verified yesterday to be an RMS leak. Again it is covered under warranty. The last outstanding thing is something going on with my drivers side headlight. I'm not sure about that still, but those puppy's cost!
So I am hopeful this is it for a while. I love my car and still have a bunch of mods to do, but I was envious of the guys this weekend who had TT's and they weren't really too familiar with this whole RMS/IMS/engine failure business.
