I'm probably the minority, but I buy cars in, or close to, stock condition. Then, when I'm ready to sell, I put my car back to stock condition or close to stock condition.

And I went back to Windows XP from Vista...

the $150 you might get from selling that short shifter unit won't even buy your wife a pair of heels at the local mall bud, but good for you for looking out. since you know that's gotta be a super high priority when you consider this mod, worrying about whether it uninstalls at some future point in the life of ownership, thus robbing yourself of the joys of a true short shift kit like the B&M unit.

and the fact that you had the will and time to downgrade the os gives you bonus dork points.

oh yea lol

OK, stupid n00b question here... But does replacing 996 OEM shifter with EITHER the 997 or B&M SSK get rid of the plastic shift linkage Or do you have to replace that separately?

need to get that separate.

EVM makes a shift link replacement (BumperPlugs) has them.

For daily driving enjoyment, B&M ssk is my favorite mod. I kinda like a little "notchy" feel...makes you feel like you're driving a race car!

About 10% shorter (better) throws than my bud's 997 GT3 shifter. Trust me, after installing the B&M (takes 1-2 leisurely hours), you won't be able to wipe that ****-eating grin off your face for weeks

BTW, no need to replace the stock shifter linkage; works fine as is.

There is that, but I guess I was not clear enough. IMO, cars that are in stock condition will sell faster than cars that are not.

Had the will and time because it got to annoying to develop software on it. Less time spent ****ing with OS and rebooting means more productivity from me. What organization wouldn't like that. Yeah, I'm a dork.

no, cars that are modded with no taste with shortcuts (99% of them out there on the market scientifically researched yes pls believe) taken do not sell well compared to stock cars. i'm one of the common will only buy used cars kinda guy, but i'm atypical in that i very much value "nicely" modded vehicles which are few and far between. porsche guys make fun of the "ricers" in the japanese car crowd... i've been on both sides... honda, bmw, now porsche... there's just as much **** in porsche911 land as there is in vtec and vanos land. the unifying factor being.. humans own them. to err is ..

i've sold my s2000 and m3 very quickly and it was priced 10-15% higher than a stock car. but then, i have a talent for building out a good looking car to attract the attn of peopel who were looking at stock cars, but realize venturing out a bit makes complete sense... once they swallow this pill, it's game over for them.

going to the BM deal... that's a very unintrusive, low cost, HIGH value mod. very few people will pass on a 911 because it has the B&M kit... those that do seriously need to get a life. same thing with adding pss9s. these are fundamental modifications that absolutely add to the marketability value of the particular car.

seriously, the stock throws on the 996 is a complete joke. i'd dump mine today if i was forced to drive sans B&M.
