02' C4S vs. 01' E46 M3
02' C4S vs. 01' E46 M3
Curious to know if the C4S is faster than the E46. I currently own and 01' M3, and been debating to buy a 02' 996 C4S. Another question is, are there aftermarket tuners that can bump up a Carrera to over 320hp? Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The new 3.6 is a tricky one to modify - most feel this was the most Porsche could squeez out of this enigine
A few tuners like Evo are working on a few cool things but supercharges and other serious mods are necesary to make you want to do anything
All these tuners that offer an ECU and exhuast & header systems won't do too much to the current carerra 3.6 powerplant to make you feel like it was money well spent

I own both
The 333 BMW hp is not quite. I raced with my brother in law in the M3. I was driving the M3 he was driving the C2, the C2 took it about 1/2 leght.
You would think 333 hp would beat 320 hp. But not quite.
C4S however is slower than a C2 by .2 seconds. Anyhow, the C4S would be a much "better"car than the M3. When I drive the M3 its just another 3 series. (here in the bay area, its a dime a dozen). If you pull up in a C4S, you get the "exotic car double back look".

You guys are all cracking me up. Define "Fast".
The M3 can't even come close to a C4S on the track.
At a stop light, the M3 and C2 are virtually equal (it's up to the driver to make the difference) and the C4S is right behind them, but again, only the driver can make the difference.
On a road course, the M3 blows compared to either the C2 or C4S.
I could care less about who looks at me or cares what I'm driving, but I do care about how fast I can go around the track and for that, I'd take a C4S over an M3 any day.
If you're only into straight line performance, then the M3 is a better bang for the buck.

If anyone is interested to know
I'm going to the Friday Nite street races in San Jose, I've set up several races against E46 M3's, Mits Evo and the Sti...all against my new C2 coupe. There will also be a Turbo running against an 11 Second Civic (on street tires).
I'll post results, pics and possibly videos. No worries, we'll keep it safe. After all it's most likely will be 2AM.

You only live once.
Porsche, there is NOSUBST2
I'd hold out for the new M3, I recently read an article about BMW putting an eight cylinder in the new M3. That will be a ferocious car! Of course the M6 is supposed to get a V10........(hand rubbing, salivating)......and the 998 is rumored by some to be getting an eight too, guess it's a good time to be a car guy huh?

I think "Dial 911" is pretty cool. So far only those friends who know how much I love this car or know the advertising slogan get it, I wonder how long before someone will either ask me what it means or tell me they get it.
