C4S Mods?

I know it's hard to get much more from an NA engine, but I see that some of the board sponsors have packages for the 3.6l.

Have any of you guys/girls done any of these mods, ie: intake, chip? If so, did you get a significant or worthwhile increase in low to mid-range oomph? I prolly won't consider exhaust since I love the sound of the NA engine, especially with the sport exhaust option which can be turned off and on (not sure if that's an option in U.S., it is in Canada)

TIA. Jamie.

Yes, I have supercharged my 996 C2. Eventhough I can't seem to Dyno it (See another thread) I can tell you there is much more power. I think the SC is the best bang for the buck. And if you love your exhuast the SC will make it sound even better!

Happy Collin, haha

SC your car and you'll be faster than Collin's Turbo...heh heh

I'm coming in to install a Super Turbo Charger kit that will kick everyone's ****. GT2, Stage4's, Vipers, bring it on!

Kirby, you have nothing to show until you dyno that thing.
I think the sound is making you think you're going faster.

search the threads and you'll find lots of info on intakes/exhausts/chips and HP increases (or lack thereof). save your money and get a coilover suspension...

I would look into either TechArt or Cargraphic as they offer the best pacakges imo for the 3.6L

jamie,

It all depends if you want to keep the factory warranty or not.

If you do than the X51 option is probably the safest. The PSE does not add any HP. With the X51 above 4500 RPM is where you notice the changes most.

If your car is off warranty, or you don't care, then supercharging is probably more reasonable.

Cold air induction may be an option, but it has mixed reviews.

There are many posts on this topic already.

I would try to keep the warranty in effect. Your car sounds fairly 'tuned' as is, some mods are o.k. just be carreful.
I put the fabspeed airbox on and am pleased with it, I also added a set of ghl mufflers (which sound great) and a b-m short shifter.
The Porsche dealer told me that none of these would void a warranty, perse. The only questionable thing being shifter related problems, but a chip would void the warranty entirely!
The x51 is great(12k), I wish I would have thought to order it, same goes for the pse and ssk. I agree, if the warranty is not an issue then go for the evo sc. Good luck.

Do you think the fabspeed air box gave you more power and better acceleration or is it the sound that you like?

It definitely made the car about 10% louder, sounded like a mild perf exhaust upgrade.
The car also has crisper acceleration and throttle response. They claim it will add 3-7 hp. One of these days I will dyno it and let you know.

3-7 hp would be hard to detect on a 3000 lb car. On a lawnmower it would be a vast upgrade. That being said, the cost is reasonable and if the sound is better than I say it is a good upgrade. On the website the say almost a .5 second speed increase or something like that. What do you think?

It seems to accelerate a bit faster, but I've never timed it myself.
I've had it on about a month now, no trouble. I like it. I had it at Lime Rock on wed., it sounded great wide open on the straight.
