PPI Results on a 2004 C2

I just ppi'd a 2004 996 Carrera 2 6 speed. Other than a few scratches (no dings) and the typical road rash on the front end, the car is very clean.

Only issue is the rms seal is "moist". It's not dripping or seeping and the indy that inspected it said that he wouldn't recommend changing it at this point. He's seen a number of 996's and he says that this moistness is common and doesn't think that it's a major issue. I know it's only about $1k to fix it but my fear is if it needs a new motor.

What do you guys think this finding does to my potential purchase? Should I walk or ask him to lower his price, if so, how much?

TIA!!!

RMS is a well known issue with 996's. I'd have him replace it for you...

How did he see if it was moist without pulling the trans/clutch/flywheel? Fiber optic scope? If you did have him pull it I would have had the RMS/IMS/Bolts done anyway.
Good luck with the car and enjoy.

Moist means the RMS needs to be replaced. Either have the current owner fix it or use it as leverage to get the selling price reduced. While the RMS is getting replaced, it'll be a good time to replace the clutch assy as well since the transmission needs to be removed.
