I'm really really in love with speed yellow and think when it comes time to move into the 997 world I'm going to go with speed yellow. My question is does it get old to look at on a daily basis? My only concern is that the "wow that's cool" factor would wear off quickly. Opinions please...

 

I had a 01 996 w/aero in Speed Yellow. It never got old. I loved to see it every time I left the house. I am very sorry I sold it.

My first 911 ('96 993) was speed yellow. It remains one of my favorite colors of all time. When I owned the car, I would turn around and look at it while walking away and sneak a peak outside my office window whenever I can. Since then, I've owned silver, black, white, red and grey Porsches but none of these colors are as sexy as SY.

When I told my neighbor I was taking delivery on a used Porsche, he asked me what color. He gave me crap about it being yellow... called it a girly color. He changed his tune once he saw it. He said something to the affect of "now that I see that color on a Porsche, I love it".

I see it this way:
Red for Ferrari.
Yellow for Lambos & Porsches.

I didnt mean to end up with 3 yellow cars, it just somehow happened, but I LOVE my speed yellow C2.

This may sound harsh to some on this board, but I had an '04 996TT in Arctic Silver before I got the C2, and while I loved driving it, I really didnt like looking at it. Every time I would look at it, it was a disappointment because I didnt like the silver. Even after i would wash it, it was very unsatisfying because it never looked much different dirty or clean.

The C2 is the exact opposite. I can't stop staring at it. I smile every day when I walk up to it, and often look back at it and stare for a few seconds after parking it. I even like seeing the yellow fenders while I'm driving it.


Another plus for the yellow: it photographs well even when dirty (my cars are usually pretty dirty. check out the front wheel on the C2 in the pic. the car was filthy at that moment).


So to me, it doesnt get old.
