JIC Cross coil over owners - question

If you are using helper springs, are they fully compressed when the car is stationary? Mine are. If this is normal, does anyone have any idea how this would help the ride of the car? To me the only help would be when the suspension is fully extended and starts to compress again.

Cool

I asked the same question. Mine are fully compressed with the car sitting on the ground.

The answer I got was that their main function is help during de-compression of the main spring. They keep everything tight against the perches and reduce spring noise.

They are not to help with suspending the car. JIC tries to make it sound like they are to make it ride better.

Thanks for the quick response. Well they certanly don't help with spring noise. It took races over each of the springs to accomplish that for mine.

What do you mean???

Mine are pretty quiet for CO's. I hear an occasional spring pop/nois while turning the wheel hard at low speed like parking.

What spring rates did you finally settle on?

I'm running my dampening at +2 from soft F and +4 from soft R for street cruising.
For performance curve carving, I set them to +4 from Soft F and -5 from hard R, and it seems to worlk very well. Sways are set soft F and Med R.

Thrust bearings that fit between the coil and the mount stopped the spring wind up release noise while reducing steering effort. I will be running 4/10 springs. I'm still running full soft - have not had a chance to play with them yet.

Thanks for your setting info - I'll probably start there and see how it works for the autobahn.

Mine look like these with washers

62mm ID is the size just for info

I was thinking that must be a typo.......but they do have a 4 available.

You should like the 7/10 set up.
