Slotted rotors

Any slotted rotors available for a 996 (non turbo)? For all 4 wheel location. And this link does not seem like I want to try it since they had quality issues: http://www.demanmotorsport.com/news/...tory.php?id=61

What do you think about these, from Tire rack?

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brake...ar=&perfCode=S

Thanks

The Deman link doesn't work. What's the issue with them? I haven't tried them, but they were on my list.

WRT your all 4 rotors, DBA doesn't make 2 piece front rotors (5000 series), or rear ones either 4000 or 5000. So you will still need to run OEM rear rotors. [which should not be an issue].

Ok, try the link again. Talked to Rick over there and the 996 slotted are not available because "they had issues with quality from their supplier." So until that is resolved, no go. And even then, I am not sure I want to be a test subject for slotted if they have issues with new supplier. I'd rather go with a quality name from the beginning but there does not seem to be any, at least that I can find.

Ah! Thanks for the info! And, if you really need something besides OEM, you should consider the PFC dimpled on the front.

Quality in the market place

Hello All,

I just wanted to clarify this situation a bit because it seems to be falling on the negative side.

First, DeMan Motorsport would never use our customers as a test bed for quality. All of our products are fully tested in house before they are released to the public.

The 996 rotors are not available at the moment because of machining issues. NOT failures or product quality. Our reputation is very important to us and when the product is ready, you can be assured they will be the finest quality..!!

Thanks for your time.

Rick DeMan

I didn't think Vivid offered or Brembo made a 318mm 2-piece slotted rotor for the 996. But since you mentioned it, can you let me/us know where to find them? I checked Rennstore and could locate the info.

Eyoooop, I was wrong.

Contacted craig: They are holed, 3 holes per hole line vs. 4 on OEM. 2 piece Brembo.

Roger. Thanks for checking! Too bad though, lots of folks looking for slotted 996 rotor alternative...

Someone here suggested performance friction rotors last time there was a brake rotor thread. I have not tried them, but would want something with a lower weight than OE. Otherwise, I don't think you can do much better than OE for the money (unless you upgrade the entire system).

Lower weight??? Why? Tha tis the LAST thing you want with a 996 rotor - you'd want MORE heat sink capacity.

Saving a lb or 2 is foolish with these brakes...........
