Is this the right amount for repair work on my 996?

I have a 99 C2. I am getting an oil change, rear brakes replaced and inspection/overlook of car due to just fixing it up a few months ago from a wreck. $1,000 for all this work parts and labor...

Does this sound right?

Wow. That seems a bit high. An oil change is a joke to do. It's like any other car, just more oil (10 quarts). Are you replacing the rotors and calipers too or just the pads? And an inspection can't take that long. Hourly rate at a Porsche Dealership near me is $134. How many hours do you think it takes to inspect your damage? A whole day?!?!

If you are replacing all 4 rotors, this isn't that far off.... If you are only replacing pads at all four corners its high.

These are very general prices and please don't roast me pointing out you can find them cheaper on eBay or Pelican, etc... BUT... from a stealership those prices aren't far off... 110 - Front pad set, 65 - rear pad set, Front rotors - 120 (x2) rear rotors - 66 (x2), oil change - 129, labor ( 2 hours at the very least, probably closer to 3 maybe even 4 depending on if they are charging for inspection ) - 134 x 2 hours = TOTAL (with two hours labor) $944.00 before taxes, TOTAL (with 3 hours labor) $1078.00 before taxes.

Again, these are general prices and if you shop around you can find them cheaper, but then of course if you do it yourself you can also save a lot of $$. Just depends what the convenience is worth to you. As you can see, it adds up quick!

Great point here. I think saving the money on easy stuff that you can do is important so that when you encounter something more challenging or an emergency, you have money for it.
