AC Control Unit stopped working

I own a 99 c2 coupe with 100k miles. Yesterday while starting the car the AC controller was dark and none of the functions worked. I restarted the engine and the display lit up and all functions worked. This morning same thing happened but this time it stayed off. Repeated attempts did not help. Windows are down now. Is it time to trace the unit or does it sound like a repairable situation. Thanks. Cheers.

I wish it were the fuse. I started the car earlier and the AC came on on its own but no display. It was cycling on and off but the controls did not work. Later everything worked, LCD and all controls. Right now I'm at the everything seems fine stage. Cannot explicate that.

In some cases parts of the car, electric circuits not coming on when they should for no apparent reason, can be traced to a bad ignition switch.

Try wiggling the key as you turn the ignition on and do this several times to see if you can sometimes get the A/C system LCD to light up.

If wiggling the key works -- sometimes -- that points to the ignition switch.

Kind of a long shot but you can try a battery disconnect. Be sure to follow the owners manual guidelines on how to properly disconnect and reconnect the battery. Be sure the key is off and out of the ignition. If you car has a radio that needs a code entered be sure you have the code *before* you disconnect the battery.

Afterwards you'll have to reset the window limits and recalibrate the E-Gas system if your car is equipped with one of course.
