my first mod ...

Got the new to me 996 home today (darn bank took forever to provide a title so I can register it... long story) and immediately did the AUX mod.

I ordered the blue plug with female RCA from becker when I bought the car and ordered a male rca to headphone plug wire from ebay so I was ready.

The mod itself : I used the special keys to pull the radio out, removed the existing blue and green plugs, replaced those with the new blue plug, enabled AUX and presto.... I can now listen to the gigs of music on my blackberry (not an ipod guy)

I then drilled the back of the storage shelf and pierced a hole in the rubber liner. Pushed the headphone jack through the back (removed the rear carpet piece) and into the storage shelf and then through the smaller hole in the rubber liner so that it doesnt fall back into the area behind the radio and pushed the rubber liner back in.

Removed the changer and put it in the basement

Looks clean and works great!

Yup, car came with a cd-220 not a cdr 220 so I got those cassette holders. Will be getting the storage bin from suncoast once I figure out how to move the k40 leds...

Call becker USA in NJ (201) area code... ask for the parts department. Ask them for the aux input cable. They have several kinds, the one I got and other geared toward Ipods. Get the radio removal tool as well. total shipped is around $35

Goto your favorite electronics parts store and get a male rca red/white to male 3.5mm headphone jack wire.

Search this forums for radio removal instructions and the rest is explained in the instructions from becker.

took 20 minutes including drilling the back of the rear cubby.
