my first mod ...
Got the new to me 996 home today (darn bank took forever to provide a title so I can register it... long story) and immediately did the AUX mod.
I ordered the blue plug with female RCA from becker when I bought the car and ordered a male rca to headphone plug wire from ebay so I was ready.
The mod itself : I used the special keys to pull the radio out, removed the existing blue and green plugs, replaced those with the new blue plug, enabled AUX and presto.... I can now listen to the gigs of music on my blackberry (not an ipod guy)
I then drilled the back of the storage shelf and pierced a hole in the rubber liner. Pushed the headphone jack through the back (removed the rear carpet piece) and into the storage shelf and then through the smaller hole in the rubber liner so that it doesnt fall back into the area behind the radio and pushed the rubber liner back in.
Removed the changer and put it in the basement
Looks clean and works great!
