Hi all,

I'm not trying to say anything about anyone, but in looking at the new LED options for the 996, is it just me or does $500-$700 see a little ridiculous for a piece of plastic from China.

I've seen Boxster ones on the market for a while now and they are in the $200 range, which seems "reasonable". It won't be long until you can get them direct yourself from www.alibaba.com

When looking at it, it just seems like the top rim that is clear is just red and then of course it has LEDs. Why not just buy LED bulbs? Talking like $60 max to go that route... But you may have to deal with bulb out warnings, there are loads of ways to deal with that though.

Anyways, not trying to say anything about people's business or put the idea down, it just seems much ado about nothing at the moment. I'll stay stock and use the money on things like suspension and brake upgrades... if the prices become more realistic then I may entertain the idea.

i have led bulbs in my brake lights, turn signals, and reverse bulbs , plus license plate , i will post pix next week when i get my car back...its nice but the led tail lights look alot more brighter and nicer in my opinion, and yes the price is a bit high but u get what u pay for !!!

 

yeah, it is a personal preference. I have always liked the array type LED lights. I did consider the bulb route but the look just disn't convince me.

as for 600 or so for a piece of plastic from china (actually Taiwan), you have to remember development costs etc have to be added in. You may find these for 2-3 hundred dolllars in five years.........maybe.

i like them.
