Should the 996 have a ping sound in engine?
I have had it since I bought it about 6 months ago. It is a slight sound of a ping in the engine area. Is this usual for a 1999 996 C2?

does it keep pinging , like somethings moving around?

I don't think it seems like anything is moving around at all. It just pings like something may be knocking just slightly and it has nerver changed for 6 months. It hasn't gotten worse, louder or anything it has stayed the same all along since I have had the car.

Ping, like detonation.

Are you running high grade fuel. How many miles? Ever pull a spark plug, maybe look for evidence that one is not firing well...

Drives good otherwise?
