Lowering springs

I'm thinking of putting Techart Loweing springs on my car (it presently has the stock suspension). What is the overall opinion of Techart springs and will i have to make any other changes if i put them on (ie shocks)?

Thanks

Not sure about the Techarts but just installed the Champion Motorsport springs on my 996and am very happy with the ride quality and stance of the car. Just had to get an alignment and thats it.

We have had good feedback with the Techart springs but for the price, there are better options out there that offer just as good if not better performance.

Lowering--ouch

My buddy lowered his 996TT with H&R and hated it. Loved the gap but the ride quality seemed to suffer..And he wasn't use to the lowered lip and took out his front lip...be careful

My car is lowered and has 19's not sure what springs they are but it still rides really nice. The springs are white if that helps at all. Just an excuse to post another pic of my car.

Lowering springs weigh-in..

I went with H&R's on my 996tt and love 'em. They dramatically improved the look and ride quality (handling and smoothness). I don't feel that the front end is too low, but then again I'm really used to it with all my cars. In order to get rid of the gap you have to lower and/or go with larger wheels (I have 19's), and I'm really happy with the combination. I hear good things about Techart in general but hear they're more expensive don't know anything about their springs (the H&R's were about $325 including shipping from Tire Rack). Either way, good luck.

Chris

Hi All,

2004 996 c4s

Got 19" champion rg5 with pilot ps2 on my car the car doesn't handle as well as the stock 18" rims and tires. It skips when i get aggressive into a turn. Looking to lower the car one bring it back to factory hieght. I'm thinking of H & R springs or maybe gemballa springs. Has anyone heard of any neg or positives about gemballa springs???

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Joe, when you increased the size of your rims, didnt you lower the profile of your tires to keep the overall height the same (235/40 18 switched to 235/35 19)?

Lowering springs..

That's a really good point, Houston. Depending on tire size availability & choices you might have no net change in the gap size. I went with a slightly higher profile tire than was recommended b/c I wanted a matching set of the highest quality, best performing, highest treadware rating I could find. So I went with a 30 aspect ratio as opposed to a 25. This provided me the best of both worlds as I was able to go with a high performance long tread life tire in the Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position (over 400 treadware rating). But, then again, I tend to drive my car year round living in CA. All things to consider. But, as I said, I'm very happy with the H&R's for all reasons mentioned before. Can't add anything to the Gemballa discussion though due to lack of exposure to them.

Thanks,

Chris

You do not install lowering springs to bring it back to factory height.

Strange that you are getting a change in handling, did you weigh the 19" wheels vs your 18? I suspect the issue is tires and not your suspension, because the overall height of the tire + wheel should not change.

My stock tires were 295/30 18 my new tire size is 295/30 19 just went up to compensate for the 19" rim. When i put them side by side the 19" are bigger in height but it no longer handles well.

a bit off topic but, how would it feel if you run H&R springs with bilstein shocks?
