going to get it checked out tomorrow, just trying to decide if i pay 15k cash on a 99 is that crazy, or should i just pay $10,000 down i can buy a newer 2002-2003 but have payments...been going crazy about this for the past week!
I think you just hijacked this post. Oh well. You still deserve a reply. If the 99 passes a PPI, buy it. But set another $10K aside for future maintenance. If you go for a more recent model for an additional $10K+, you're still going to need to set aside another $10K for future maintenance. Pay now or pay later. I would pay now, and pay the maintenance, not the note, later. My .03 cents (inflation).

I wouldn't rush into anything as the purchase of the wrong car will sour your opinion of a truly great marque.

Enjoy the search itself - you're shopping for a Porsche! Does it get better than that??

Take your time, see lots of cars, drive lots of cars, be prepared to do a number of PPIs. If you do your homework, and be thorough, you really won't need this board to tell you if you've found the right car - you will know ( a second opinion is always nice though).

I purchased my car this summer. I started (seriously) looking last fall. I looked at probably close to 100 cars. I did PPIs on three separate vehicles and finally settled on *my* car.

Enjoy the experience!

I guess my experience is one of the easiest. A friend of mine told me he wants to sell his 996, then I showed interested. We reached agreement in less than 10 minutes subject to PPI. Of course PPI comes out perfect, so I am driving MY 996 now! What an emotional purchase!

During the time I was reading all forums like crazy, can't even sleep well. The biggest purchase in my life so far and it was made in 10 mintues

I second not going cheap on a Porsche. Also, I would try to find with less miles. If this is your first Porsche, you want the best experience possible, so buy with lower mileage and you'll never lose sleep about wondering how long before you need to sink money into it. Good Luck!
