Flat rear tire PITB

Learned a lesson last night. Blew a rear tire last night, pulled over, got the tools out and could not loosen the lugs nuts as the lug wrench handle is really short. There was a Lowe's close so I went in a bought some black pipe to use as a cheater, worked, great got the tire off and the new little wimpy tire on. Went to put the tire in the trunk, uh no way won't fit. Hmmmm open the top and put it in the back seat Jezzz glad I had a blanket to cover it in....Lession it helps to have your 10 year old son in the back seat to hold the old tire when you have to change it and carry a 3 ft piece of pipe to help get the lug nuts off. or just call Porsche roadside assistance.

glad to hear you got the lugs off. I usually carry a torque wrench in the trunk all the time, might be a good idea for you

I put together an emergency kit that has all sorts of extra tools and the sort in the trunk. If you do not have something like this, I would highly recommend it.

FWIW, (probably too late for you now, but maybe someone else will benefit, as the info in your post is very helpful as well ), but if you look in the manual, it tells you to only put the mini spare on the front, then move the front tire to the rear, and turn off PSM if you have it. Skizot, I'd be curious as to what emergency tools you carry.

Does it apply even if the wheels have different widths (Front vs Rears)? +1 on the emergency tools list. Thanks.

It must apply since Porsche ships different widths as stock on all 911's.

I would say it's mainly because of the rear weight bias of the 911 and the fact that if you HAD to suddenly accelerate, the mini spare would probably shred from the torque.
