In-Dash Navigation System
What's up guys!
I'm planning on buying an aftermarket GPS Navigation system for my 996 C2. I've been looking at these two so far:
What do you guys think? Which one did you like? Can anyone suggest a better Navigation/GPS/Audio/Video system that they like and/or currently have installed on their dash? I'm all open for any suggestions!
Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Well what I did was install a mini PC and a 7" touch screen... with Windows XP installed and using Media Engine I can have music, XM radio, radio, movies, GPS navigation, WiFi, and even a nice little hook up for my Durametric so I can diagnose the car or look at live data while on the road.
There is loads of room behind there, the computer in on a two tier mount I made and bolts to factory holes. The motherboard is on one tier and the power supply and hard drive is on the other. There is no CDROM in my install as its hooked through a deck I put in so CDs go there. I gutted a USB GPS and installed that under the alarm light up top where a factory GPS goes.

I would probably go with the kenwood, i have heard nothing but good things about them. Stay away from pioneer because i've heard they have a lot of problems and very long startup times. Another tip i can give you is buy the unit from amazon they are like 50% cheaper than what u posted.
I went with the Kenwood vs. the alpine because the nav system is built in and unlike the alpine where you still have to buy the nav system after you bought the head unit. Kenwood uses the German GPS system
I have the Alpine 505. Its been great so far. I have sirius and an ipod. I had it installed with an ipod line that goes to my glove box.

you may want to search for the wiring diagram that allows you to bypass the speed sensor so you can program while driving. I had this done on mine.
Okay, so I chose the Alpine IVA-W505/P1. I've read tons of reviews on which is better, Kenwood or Alpine. Looks like 90% of the vote goes to Alpine. So, I went to my local porsche dealership and they referred me to a company to have the installation done. Quote was $5000, plus taxes = $5,800. Quite expensive, but they did one heck of a job. Everything looks perfect!

I have the kenwood dnx7120 with sirius, fm traffic, ipod , bluetooth and backup camera. Energy speakers.
The kenwood unit works very well - the touch screen is a joy to use and the nav/traffic integration is pretty good (I've avoided a few jams with it). Bluetooth is a waste of time. I don't think the backup camera is worth much either.
